Fail safe veggie recipe to satisfy die hard meat eaters?
I've got to cook for my other halfs family this weekend, all big meat fans. They want something vegetarian to "see what its all about". I need two courses, anyone got anything that never fails to impress a meat eater?
I'm over-thinking things and can't seem to come up with anything!

If they are going to be fussy about eating vegetarian food then I have found chilli goes down well with "I have to have meat at every meal" type of people
Otherwise, how about stuffed peppers or potato skins for a starter, served on fresh rocket or spinach leaves
Curry can be impressive if done well, and you could do some veggie side dishes to go with it, serve in lots of little dishes around the table - spectacular and if someone doesnt like something then they can just help themselves to a bit more of something else
How about grilled hallumi with new potatoes and salad or seasonal vegetables

Hi!
I've been a Veggie for nearly 10 years and I always get interogated as to 'how do you get your protein?' blah blah blah same old questions! My other half is a meat eater and he considers it a personal acheivement if he manages a mean without any meat - it's like he wants a gold star!!!
My first thoughts were exactly the same as the previous posts.... curry or chilli however, I am having a green thai curry tonight and that could be a good one? or how about a lentil shepherd pie?
Good Luck!

Heya,
I would go for something heavy on protein, so lentils or other pulses, plenty of beans, etc. to make sure they find the food filling, but avoid "meat replacements" like quorn or tofu - they probably have already convinced themselves that those are just "pale imitations."
Chilli or any kind of stew might be good - maybe with some kind of cheesy vegetable tart to start?
Love,
Emy

A very late response but I figure it might be of use still!
I always find for die-hard meat fans it's best to avoid any fake meats. If it was a Sunday dinner I would just do a full roast without the meat, Mash, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables AND Cauliflower Cheese - I always think that's a winner.

Fail safe veggie recipe
I second the chili recommendation. I also frequently cook a vegan spaghetti Bolognese for omnivores. I use veggie "ground beef" and no one ever knows the difference.
